Breeding conditions:
|
| Arctic Foxes were common and bred. Reproductive succes was very low in murres and kittiwakes. Egg-laying occurred in usual time in murres, but clutches were abandoned en masse apparently due to insufficient food. Birds were very lean, and we could see keel of birds resting on rocks. Red-legged Kittiwakes abandoned almost all clutches in early June, while reporductive success of Black-legged Kittiwakes was slightly higher but still very low. Timing of reproduction was close to average in Least Auklets, and food supply for chicks was sufficient in this species judging by visual observation of adult birds. Breeding of Red-faced Cormorant appeared normal as well. Two nests of Rock Sandpipers with complete clutches were found in June.
